Is it possible to find out when an internet domain site name will expire and be available?

Somebody has already taken the domain name that corresponds to (my name).com. However, there are only a few pics on the site and it doesn't really seem to be kept up. Is there a way to find out when that person's ownership of that site name will expire?

1. yep in fact there are lots services that you pay upfront and they buy it as soon as it becomes available
2. you can do a whois report to see when it expires, but that doesn't mean it will be available. Most registrars leave domain names open for renewal for a month after it expires... and if you want it, then the person who registered it in the first place probably does too. You can do whois lookups on the web at http://www.dnsstuff.com
3. yes ...backorder it ... most domain register website will have this option for you... after the date of the domain been expire u can backorder it , if the owner didn't pay it domain fee anymore.. but if the owner did pay ..then u gotta wait couple more yr.. also dont worry,, no buy no pay.. until u really got the domain they will just begain to charge u..
