If I buy a domain name from Yahoo can I then let my work to use it and build a website using the domain?
I found an awesome domain for an outreach project I'm doing for work, but I don't know much about building websites. If I buy the domain, can our web design guy then build a website using it -- or could it be a problem that it's registered with Yahoo or in my name? (I know my work wouldn't care that my name's on it, I just mean from a technical perspective of getting it up and running)

- Shouldnt be an issue, but it's not very professional, i dont think the web designer would want to do that, but ultimately it is up to management.
- I don't think it will matter he will just need you password and your user name.
- Essentially, it wouldn't be a problem, as long as your company doesn't mind you having control over the website domain account. You could always transfer ownership over to them. When you register a domain (you really don't buy them), you essentially just get to tell everyone what website they see (your IT guy sets this up on a server, or has it hosted by a web hosting company) when they type www.sample.com or whatever you register. You HAVE to renew the domain name every once in a while, so make sure you don't let it lapse, or someone else could register your domain.
- htp://www.geocities.yahoo.com offers web hosting even if you have your own domain (a transfer)
